A powerful tool in your pocket that can change the world

Pocket Cinema Smartphone Filmmaking Training encourages the professional and artistic development of LGBTQ+ individuals living in countries with homophobic laws. Participants develop their imagination, creativity, self-esteem and employability skills. They will learn basic filmmaking skills, storytelling methodologies, and how to become more resourceful with the powerful tool they have in their pockets by transforming it into a professional movie camera.

Pocket Cinema Smartphone
Filmmaking Training

Our scholarships are available to one individual from each of the countries that criminalize homosexuality. No previous experience is required.

This course is for you... if you share our passion for cinema and freedom of expression, are committed to a World beyond injustice, and are dedicated to accompany, celebrate, and collaborate responsibly. We encourage cross-community, cross-sector and cross-issue collaborations, investing equally in each others’ issues and narrative goals.

In film, it is necessary to know and understand what everyone on set is doing. In order to bring someone's vision to life, a deep understanding of who they are is required.

We use peer to peer creative writing methodologies and remote filmmaking techniques. Our platform gives exposure, support and recognition to courageous marginalized individuals, bringing greater global awareness of sexual and gender minorities.

One scholarship from each of the  countries that still criminalizes homosexuality will be given to an individual from that country. We encourage inquisitive, passionate, motivated and engaged individuals with positive and cooperative attitudes to apply.

No previous experience is required.

Deadline: ongoing

Applications are reviewed every season:

  • March

  • June

  • and December

“75 SHOTS, for me, is an opportunity for LGBTI people to express themselves artistically, in countries where being ourselves puts us in danger. It is an international connection, which links us together by learning new skills and creating films reflecting our stories.

75 SHOTS allowed me to express myself in many forms while working for the community. This is what I have wanted for years, to combine art and human rights. It also allowed me to communicate with people from different countries experiencing the same realities as myself, despite languages, time differences or circumstances. I hope that our projects expand into a real global artistic LGBTI network.”

Solidarity | Reach out and Touch

We aim to move audiences from empathy to action on LGBTQ+ rights issues. 100% of the proceeds go to 75 SHOTS Pocket Cinema, a non-profit media arts organization by, for, and about marginalized BIPOC queer artists, originally from the Global South. Through the power of mobile filmmaking, we support the collaborative creation of experimental films that amplify underrepresented voices, foster global solidarity, and advocate for humanitarian causes.

The main subject is a non binary black person's head and shoulder in b/w. Their haircut is short and shaved on the side. It is a cartoon illustration. There is a hand holding a smartphone in front of the subject in landscape mode. The index finger and thumb are all that you can see from the hand and it's in the same b/w colour as the subject with silver undertones. The frame of the phone is golden colour. The screen of the phone is cracked and ressembles a damaged windshield that has been broken by a fallen rock/pebble from a truck on the highway. The colour image on the screen of the phone, focuses on the naked eyes cheekbone and pierced nose. It’s in the radiant colour of the rainbow The mouth is in b/w as it is outside the frame of the smartphone. Illustration by Wacyl Kha 75 SHOTS founding member. Queer Cinema from the Global South
